Dear Friends of Fittleworth

Welcome to our June E-Newsletter.

The lazy, hazy days of summer are here… at long last we can get out into our gardens and enjoy some fresh air.

Whilst we have been waiting for summer to arrive, we have been busy raising money for MS, everyone that took part baked cakes, walked or cycled around the Goodwood Track. The Wessex Stoma Support Group visited our offices in Littlehampton and a good day was had by all.
Also, the Fittleworth Store are now able to supply a range of incontinence Bed Pads at very competitive prices.  To view the full range, visit our website
Going Away on holiday? Even if you are away on holiday and you find yourself in need of emergency supplies, we will get your goods to you, no paperwork, no worries and no fuss!

Mitrofanoff Support

Mitrofanoff Support's aim is to offer support, reassurance, information and networking to anyone who may be about to have, or already has a Mitrofanoff and those close to them.  (To find out more about the Mitrofanoff procedure click here).

Mitrofanoff Support was founded in early 2010 by Kyla Rogers, as she felt there was not enough support and guidance for those with a Mitrofanoff.  The charity is based in Bournemouth and operates nationally.

The charity's primary role is to represent the interests of people with a Mitrofanoff by raising awareness of the procedure and also what it is like to have a continent stoma and what it means to live with a Mitrofanoff. By doing this, we hope to address the general lack of public knowledge,
present and future.

The charity holds two Patient Education Days per year, in the Spring and Autumn varying the locations around the country where people with a shared condition can discuss their experiences and enjoy some social interaction, while giving guidance and often hope to people at the beginning of the process who have attended in search of answers and reassurance.

Me, You and Fred
There are three of us in this marriage, me (Wendy), my husband David and Fred.  We were a normal couple until a few months ago but now wherever David goes Fred comes too.  Sometimes we don’t notice him but sometimes he can be quite a pain and David pays more care and attention to him than he does me.

Perhaps I should explain about Fred:  Last year through the post David, who was a very fit and active 66 year old, received a test pack from Bowel Screening Wales.  (The poo pack as we affectionately call it).  David was reluctant to bother with the slightly messy business of proving a stool sample, but wifely nagging prevailed.  We were very surprised when a further pack arrived with a letter explaining that some abnormalities had been found and a repeat was necessary.
After this was checked, further tests were deemed necessary and David was told he would need a colonoscopy, where a camera would be inserted through his back passage into his bowel to check where the blood that they had found in his samples was coming from.
